The Parent Academy offers ongoing classes in the following areas:

Zoom Course (2 sessions)

  • Zoom-1 (Intro to Zoom): This course will review the various features of Zoom and teach participants how to participate in a Zoom meeting.

  • Zoom-2 (Intermediate Zoom): This course will teach participants how to host and manage a Zoom meeting.

Google Drive Course (7 sessions)

  • Google Drive-1 (Intro to Google Drive): This course will offer an overview of the various Google Drive tools and resources including Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets. 

  • Google Drive-2 (Google Docs): In this course participants will receive an overview of the various tools in Google Docs. Participants will learn how to use those tools, share and comment in docs, insert links and videos and add a table into a doc, and how to view different versions of a working doc.

  • Google Drive-3 Part A (Intro to Google Sheets): In this course, participants will receive an overview of the various tools in Google Sheets. Participants will learn the sheets components, functions, formulas and how to create Google spreadsheets.

  • Google Drive-3 Part B (Google Sheets): In this course, participants will learn and apply the various tools in Google Sheets. Participants will create sheets and learn how to use formulas using more than one sheet as well as use Google Sheets templates.

  • Google Drive-4 (Google Slides): In this course, participants will receive an overview of the various tools in Google Slides. Participants will learn how to create presentations.

  • Google Docs Practice Session: This session is intended for participants to practice and apply what was learned in Google Docs. Participants will create and share a Google Doc and work collaboratively as a team.

  • Google Sheets Practice Session: This session is design for participants to review, ask questions and practice what they learned on Google Sheets Part A & B.

Typing Course (1 session)

  • Typing-1: This course will introduce and teach participants how to type using a computer base program. 

Math Course (3 sessions)

  • Math-1A: Review basic math concepts, as well as offer tools, resources, and methods on how to support their children’s learning of the following math concepts, place value, regrouping, addition without carrying and with carrying, and subtraction without borrowing and with borrowing.

  • Math-1B: Review basic math concepts, as well as offer tools, resources, and methods on how to support their children’s learning of the following math concepts, multiplication without and with carrying, properties of multiplication, division without a remainder and with a remainder, and rounding whole numbers.

  • Math Reasoning: This class offers parents tools and techniques to help engage children in math using daily life activities. Parents learn how to identify math practice concepts and how they can be incorporated in daily activities such as grocery shopping, cooking, bedtime storytelling, and more.

LinkedIn Course (2 sessions)

  • LinkedIn-1: Participants will receive an overview of the LinkedIn tools that will be covered during this course and how to incorporate their professional branding into their LinkedIn profile. Participants will create/access their LinkedIn profile and update it using their resumes. 

  • LinkedIn-2: Participants will review how to create and/or update their LinkedIn profile through reflection and the use of LinkedIn tools.
